North Wales Police Cruising/Cottaging Warning Update====ST ASAPH.....................
North Wales Police in partnership with the local Gay Community have announced that they will step up patrols in the vicinity of a Puiblic Sex Location in St Asaph. ...............The location is described as the lane after the exit roundabout (Junction 26) from the A55 to St Asaph Buisness park. The lane runs alongside the A55 back to Engine Hill, Bodelwyddan............Visiting this location puts YOU at RISK from HOMOPHOBIC HATE CRIMES and PHYSICAL ATTACK's................ The announcement came following a number of complaints from residents /office staff and the local Community Council that men seeking sex with other men are using the AREA. Officers have initially warned men who use the Area that uniformed Police patrols in the area will be targeting the whole area to deter their use for sexual purposes. Officers will also consider deploying high profile CCTV technology in the area. Men acting suspiciously may be stopped and ask to account for their presence in the toilets and adjacent car park‘s. All stops will be recorded in accordance with legislation. North Wales Police will be acting with the full co-operation with the local gay community and in accordance with their publicly available policy for dealing with such matters.

Cruising And The LAW
The sexual offences Act 2003, which prohibits “sexual activity in a public lavatory” has nothing to say about sex in public places.However ,anyone who engages in sex in public can find themselves charged with offences under the Public Order Act,if the police have sufficient evidence to convince a court of law that the activity was witnessed,(or there was a high likeihood of being witnessed),by a third party. The attitude of the police to cruising at any given location varies,according to the time of the day and night,and the number of complaints from local residents and councillors.Occasionally,police will visit a cruising area to advise cruisers of the risc of homophobic attacks,and anyone seen to be involved in sexual behaviour will be asked to move on rather than being arrested. Anyone who leaves evidence of sexual encounters,such as discarded lubricant and condom packets etc draws attention to the fact that the area is a public sex environment,even if no sexual activity has been seen,This can lead to complaints to the police and local council and an increased police presence.

Officers have initially warned men who use the Area that uniformed Police patrols in the area will be targeting the whole Estate plus national trust land to deter their use for sexual purposes. Officers will also consider deploying high profile CCTV technology in the area. Men acting suspiciously may be stopped and ask to account for their presence in Parc Menai and adjacent car park‘s. All stops will be recorded in accordance with legislation. North Wales Police will be acting with the full co-operation with the local gay community and in accordance with their publicly available policy for dealing with such matters. This warning also covers( NEW )Penrhos Nature Reserve Holyhead , Gors toilets Llanfairpg Anglesey ,Layby on A5 near Brittania Bridge Anglesey ,Parc Menai bangor , colwyn bay toilets and promanade toilets Llanddulas Beach Colwyn Bay,hawarden woods , the public toilets in LLANGEFNI on Anglesey CAERNARFON EMPIRE and town center .car parks toilets, and many more public toilets and cruising areas in north wales.

Many HIV-positive gay men have post-traumatic stress disorder
A third of HIV-positive gay men have post-traumatic stress disorder, UK investigators report in AIDS Patient Care and STDs. Events including starting treatment, HIV-related illness, and witnessing an HIV-related death were all linked to the development of symptoms associated with post-traumatic stress disorder. Emotional responses to such events - rather than actual physical threat - were associated with the development of symptoms of post-traumatic stress.

Sexually transmitted infections: education is the answer, not outrage
STIs are on the increase – but what's the best way to get the figures down?

The soaring rate of sexually transmitted infections was last week laid at the door of young people – and particularly women in the rather broad age grouping of 15 to 24, which encompasses adolescent schoolgirls, careerists and young mums. There was talk of the "vulnerability" of some young women, unable to talk to their boyfriend about using a condom – or maybe even whether to have sex at all. And there were the usual knowing assumptions about the sex drive and carelessness of youth.
